Mat is a landscape architect and artist based in the Front Range of Colorado, focused on permaculture and regenerative agriculture. His professional practice, teaching, and research has spanned 4 continents, including Switzerland, Germany, Australia, The Fiji Islands, Mexico, Belize, the US Virgin Islands, and Columbia, S.A.
Originally from Philadelphia, he received his BS in Forest Biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and his Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) and Master of Architecture (MArch) from the University of Pennsylvania. Mat came to Colorado to teach in the Environmental Design Program at CU Boulder, and has since to go on to develop a private practice across Colorado in collaboration with Eco Systems Design, Inc (www.ecosystems-design.com).
Prior to this, he taught landscape architecture, architecture and urban design at Temple University, Philadelphia University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. He holds a professional license in landscape architecture, a certificate in permaculture design, (PDC), and is former Executive Director at the Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute, in Basalt, Colorado (www.crmpi.org).
